Ruby Alexander and The Bonafide Playboys have a wide ranging repertoire of sounds varying from the Great American Songbook to Bossa Novas and R&B, all the way to New Wave classics. Ruby grew up in a small steel town north of Pittsburgh and at the age of 5, her father, a jazz trumpeter, taught her to sing. Her vocal style and performance are highly influenced by the jazz greats of the 30s and 40s. However, growing up in the 80s and 90s, she loves rearranging songs from her youth into a new genre, Retro Pop Fusion. Ruby is backed by the vivacious Bonafide Playboys, with Utah Hamrick on bass, Jerrold Feigenbaum on trumpet, and Ken Williams on guitar.
