FITZGERALDS is proud to be the designated pick-up / drop-off spot for There Goes the Neighbor Hood; an Oak Park - River Forest Gangster Tour led by Mob historian John Binder. A little more info on the tour, and tour-guide:John Binder, Mob Historian and author of The Chicago Outfit and Al Capones Beer Wars, will guide the There Goes the Neighbor Hood tour of gangster history in Oak Park and River Forest. This exterior tour visits 13 houses which were once owned by major hoodlums, including Tony Accardo, Paul Ricca, Sam Giancana, Tough Tony Capezio, and Machine Gun Jack McGurn. He will discuss the former owners, the interesting features of each home (10 of which he has been in), the familys time there, and answer questions. The tour lasts two and one half hours and is a deep immersion into the history of organized crime in Chicago from Prohibition until the 1990s, focusing on the lives and careers of many of Chicagos most famous gangsters. It is by minibus (the bus seats 38 people) with no walking reuired. John Binder has studied the history of organized crime in Chicago for over 30 years, covering its evolution from the 1830s to the present. He is regularly interviewed by the news media and cable television and was the historical consultant on the As Day Massacre as well as AMCs Mob Week and some 30 other documentaries. Tours begin at 11am and 2pm
