Tragically, Lynyrd Skynyrd faced a devastating plane crash in 1977 that claimed the lives of Van Zant, Collins, and backup singer Cassie Gaines. Despite this tragedy, the band regrouped and continued to create music, honoring their fallen members' legacy. Johnny Van Zant, Ronnie's younger brother, took over as the lead vocalist, ensuring the band's spirit lived on. Throughout their career, Lynyrd Skynyrd has released numerous albums, including "Street Survivors," "Nuthin' Fancy," and "Gimme Back My Bullets," each showcasing their unique blend of rock, blues, and country influences.
